Actress Anya Taylor-Joy disclosed her secret marriage to her partner Malcolm McRae in New Orleans in 2022.

The Queen’s Gambit star shared with fans that she tied the knot with her “best friend” during a ceremony on April Fools Day two years ago.

“The magic of that day is ingrained in every cell of my being, forever,” she expressed in an Instagram post.

She unveiled snapshots and clips from the vampire-themed event, which notably showcased cakes shaped like human hearts described as “anatomically correct.”

“Happy second (first) anniversary, my love… You’re the coolest,” Taylor-Joy captioned alongside the post. “N.B. yes, those are anatomically correct heart cakes,” she appended, pointing to a plate bearing cakes shaped like authentic hearts set in what seemed to be faux blood.

In her post, Taylor-Joy humorously referred to herself as “the vampire Lestat,” alluding to the character from Anne Rice’s novel Interview with the Vampire, coincidentally set in New Orleans.

Notable figures such as model Cara Delevingne and photographer Sebastian Faena attended the ceremony, with Dior responsible for designing the wedding attire.

On Tuesday, actor and musician McRae also shared glimpses of the occasion on his own social media, expressing, “I love you now, and somehow I always have, and somehow it will never end. Happy two-year anniversary (yesterday), beautiful.”

The couple had a larger wedding bash for their friends in Venice last October.

While speculation previously swirled around their Venetian celebration being their wedding, this marks the first time the couple has confirmed their actual marriage in April 2022.

Since her breakout role in Netflix’s chess drama The Queen’s Gambit in 2020, Taylor-Joy has graced the screens in Last Night in Soho, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Dune: Part Two, and is set to appear in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga next month.
