Rebel Wilson’s Book Release Delayed In UK And Australia

Actress Rebel Wilson’s autobiography, “Rebel Rising,” has been delayed in the UK and Australia.

Rebel Rising hit the shelves in the US on Tuesday, with anticipated releases in Australia on Wednesday and the UK on Thursday. However, its UK release date has been rescheduled to April 25.

Publisher HarperCollins stated that the delay is to align with Rebel Wilson’s scheduled press tours.

The book gained attention for Wilson’s depiction of her collaboration with Sacha Baron Cohen.

Baron Cohen, a British comedian, strongly refuted any wrongdoing, dismissing Wilson’s portrayal of their work in the 2016 film Grimsby as “demonstrably false.”

Wilson, an Australian star, shared with the Sunday Times that her involvement in the spy comedy was “the worst professional experience of my career.”

Within the book, she recounted instances where she felt pressured to perform actions that were “derogatory to women or to my size.” She expressed feeling “humiliated” and “sexually harassed” during certain scenes.

She compared Baron Cohen’s behavior to that of a “fourth-grade bully who teases the fat girl on the playground and tries to make her life a living hell.”

Wilson portrayed the girlfriend of Baron Cohen’s character in the film, titled The Brothers Grimsby in North America.

A representative for Baron Cohen issued a statement stating, “While we acknowledge the importance of speaking up, these claims are unequivocally false and contradicted by substantial evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness testimonies.”

Recently, the Daily Mail released behind-the-scenes footage from one of the scenes Wilson described. She criticized the publication of this “unauthorized and misleading” footage as “bullying and gaslighting.”

Wilson is scheduled to promote her autobiography in Edinburgh, Manchester, and London on April 24, 26, and 29, respectively. She will then continue her tour in Australia, visiting Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne on May 9, 12, and 14.

During an appearance on Kelly Clarkson’s US TV talk show on Tuesday, Wilson emphasized that her book “is obviously not about this one guy,” stating, “Like, that is one thing in one chapter.”

Baron Cohen rose to fame with his bold style of comedy, featuring audacious pranks conducted while in character as spoof gangster Ali G or fictitious Kazakh journalist Borat.
