Annecy Film Festival: First Look At DreamWorks’ “The Wild Robot”

Audiences will have the chance to preview footage from DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming animated feature “The Wild Robot” at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The studio, marking its 30th anniversary, will exhibit “The Wild Robot” footage on June 11, accompanied by a filmmaker presentation from writer and director Chris Sanders (“The Croods”). Later that day, an Artists’ Panel discussion with the film’s creative leadership team is scheduled.

On June 12, the filmmakers will host a special book signing at the Bonlieu library.

Adapted from Peter Brown’s book, “The Wild Robot” narrates the tale of Roz, a robot stranded on an uninhabited island. Roz adapts to her new environment and forges friendships with the island’s animals. The film’s voice cast includes Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, Pedro Pascal as the fox Fink, Catherine O’Hara as the opossum Pinktail, Bill Nighy as the goose Longneck, and Mark Hamill.

“As we approach our 30th anniversary this fall, DreamWorks Animation continues to strive for new levels of artistic excellence, with stories that ignite the hearts and minds of audiences around the world, and no film embodies that mission more than Chris Sanders’ The Wild Robot,” said DreamWorks Animation president Margie Cohn. “Chris and producer Jeff Hermann have lovingly translated Peter Brown’s renowned literary sensation into a genuine work of art. We have no doubt that the film they’ve created is a classic in the making, and we’re proud and honored to share this exclusive look at their achievement at Annecy this year.”

The Annecy International Film Festival is scheduled from June 9 to June 15.
