Reality TV star David Potts emerged as the victor of the inaugural Celebrity Big Brother in six years, securing the coveted title. The 30-year-old, renowned for his role as a holiday rep on ITV2’s Ibiza Weekender, triumphed over competitors including Louis Walsh, Fern Briton, Nikita Kuzmin, and Colson Smith.
The revival of the show by ITV, following its cancellation by Channel 5 in 2018, has garnered significant attention, drawing an average of 2.8 million viewers per episode.
Twelve contestants entered the Big Brother house nearly three weeks ago, embarking on a journey of challenges and camaraderie. In the climactic finale, the remaining five housemates gathered for a reflective dinner in the living room, reminiscing on their shared experiences.
Expressing gratitude, Potts conveyed, “I genuinely did not think I would be in a house with 12 people who I actually genuinely, really, really liked,” thanking everyone for accepting him as he is.
Potts has previously graced screens in various reality TV ventures, including Celebs on the Farm, Celebrity Karaoke Club, and Celebrity Ghost Trip.
Meanwhile, Walsh, reflecting on his time in the house, expressed, “I was a bit wacky, a bit funny, and I had an opinion on everybody. I will never forget it.”
Throughout the series, the former X Factor judge remained candid, not shying away from expressing his views on fellow celebrities. Last week, his comments on Irish pop duo Jedward stirred a social media uproar, with the twins labeling them “spiteful and disrespectful.”
Walsh also disclosed to his housemates that he battled a rare form of blood cancer during the pandemic but assured them that he’s now “fine.”
Another notable participant, Sharon Osbourne, referred to as a “celebrity lodger” by ITV, exited the show after eight days.
Among the diverse lineup were the Princess of Wales’ uncle Gary Goldsmith, Heartstopper actor Bradley Riches, and former Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.
