The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, and the Secretary of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Khalid Saleem, have received a letter suggesting postponing matriculation exams for one month from the All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA).
In this letter, the Central President of the Private Schools Association, Shabir Ahmed Hashmi, points out their issues about the negative impacts of smog and extended winter vacations on students.
Hashmi also emphasized that students lost their critical studies because of the extended vaccations due to weather conditions, convincing the authorities to postpone the exams for a month.
According to media reports, Mian Shabir Ahmed Hashmi, Central President of APPSA, briefed CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi and Higher Education’s secretary that prolonged winter holidays have resulted in an incomplete curriculum program.
Shabir Ahmed Hashmi suggests a one-month delay in matriculation exams to complete the syllabus and help students so that they can complete their revisions.
Moreover, he recommends starting matriculation exams on April 15th, mentioning extended winter vaccations and impending elections as other major factors justifying the need for this accommodation.
APPSA’s request covers all exams, such as PAF, PEMA, and matriculation, and they also convince the authorities to declare a one-month delay in exams because students have not had enough time for the completion of the syllabus and preparation of exams.
