Adrian Hallmark Becomes Aston Martin CEO Leaving Bentley

Adrian Hallmark, a seasoned automotive executive who has led Bentley, has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Aston Martin, a fellow British luxury carmaker.

The 61-year-old is set to assume his new role no later than October 1, as announced by the company on Friday. The current CEO, Amedeo Felisa, will continue in his position until that time.

Aston Martin Lagonda stated, “He brings more than 25 years of highly successful senior automotive experience from the US, Europe, and Asia with companies such as Bentley, Porsche, and Volkswagen.”

Hallmark’s background includes seven years in senior positions at Jaguar Land Rover. During his tenure at Bentley, the company saw significant increases in profits and revenue, although it faced challenges in 2023 due to changing sales trends in China.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, expressed confidence in Hallmark, noting that he brings “unrivalled experience in both the ultra-luxury and British manufacturing sectors to progress our strategy and continue recent momentum.”

This appointment marks another change in leadership for Aston Martin, which has endured substantial losses in recent years, although they narrowed in the 2023 results. Felisa took over in May 2022 after his predecessor, Tobias Moers, held the top position for less than two years.

Shares of Aston Martin Lagonda rose by 1.8% at 9:15 a.m. in London following the announcement.

Despite a recovery in 2023, the company’s share price has declined significantly since its initial public offering in 2018, grappling with challenges such as supply chain disruptions, increased costs, and a substantial debt burden.

Hallmark faces a daunting agenda, including the launch of Aston Martin’s first hybrid supercar, the Valhalla, addressing production issues with the new DB12 model, and navigating the transition to electric vehicles, a challenge many automakers are currently facing.
